Jeez I'm busy and there's important revelations on television!

Nigel is a perv. Botox and comments on undressing young female dancers is just...enough. But then again, Nigel is a hell of a lot better than the high pitched squealing of Mary...

I'm telling you though. If I am willing to stay up until 1 am to catch a show that I missed due to volleyball, that's saying something. I am just one of those people who thinks that as much as I love words, and language, and I do what I can to express emotions, feelings, hopes, dreams, anger, sadness and other emotions, the best way I have ALWAYS felt to truly express the inexpressible is through music and dance.

Funny, but my Mom could care less about music. To her it is background noise. And although she still has favourites, she has no level of passion for music. Not so, however, when it comes to Daddy. From the time I was a baby, he not only exposed me to all sorts of great music, but did so with a fervour that bordered on fanaticism. And so I believe came my passion for music. The dancing is more just my thing. I am good at it, and love it. Wish I had a dancer's body, but I am no more a dancer than a gymnast, my friends.

ANYWAY. I digress. I get chills, cry, laugh and find myself subconsciously moving my body to the movements of the SYTYCD dancers. What a showcase for incredible choreography too....I LOVE THIS SHOW.

And that is all I have to say.

Finally, the pairing I have been waiting for

OH YES. THAT's what I am talkin' about! Brandan and Kayla paired up in SYTYCD. I have said from the beginning that no one could touch either of these two, and now, seeing them together, just proves it. They blow the other dancers out of the water.

so yeah. The voters better get it right, since they were stupid last week, and got rid of my second favourite gal.

And can I say that I love disco. I pride myself on being a pretty good disco dancer, but holy crapoly....

As Mary would say....WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Tuesdays - now offering a better menu

Finally. Tuesdays have been one of those days that I am often home in the evening, and NOTHING, I mean NOTHING has been on television! So little time in our lives to relax and watch tv, and no, we still don't have a pvr...

So yeah... we now have Chef Ramsay's badass screaming obsentities at fumbling kitchen puppets now! Yippee!!!! I love watching people in Hell!

A new move

I'm calling it the 'reality flip'. Too many damn reality shows on at the same time! Do I want to watch next top model or celebrity jungle crap or models and athletes kayaking through a resort lazy river? GOD! So many GREAT options!!!

Really. If you are going to do reality, can we PLEASE make it a little more compelling PULEEEEASE?

At least tomorrow night I have SYTYCD! Can't wait. Last week my favourite dance by far was one that also had a very personal resonance with me. It was a contemporary number that used the music I chose as the first dance between my husband and I at our wedding reception. The song, Falling Slowly, I first heard while watching the movie "Juno" (great movie), and it just spoke to me. The lyrics are incredible, and really seemed to capture, poetically, the journey my husband and I have taken together, and the optimism we both have for our future together. It was lovely.

Watch and enjoy the beauty that is the best reality show amid a sea of wasted time.

The catharsis of gardening

After 2pm today, I was finally free to think of this latest news as being on its way to over. And then...I planted. And weeded. And moved perennials. And felt better knowing that I was surrounded by life and sunshine and getting my hands dirty in order to feel cleansed. It truly succeeded in soothing me; it was remarkable.

I don't begin to know why this happened to us. Again. I also don't really know what to say, feel, think, do with myself. I certqainly can't even contemplate going back to my usual life again. It's a daunting prospect, and I think I am going to need some time in relative solitude to cope. My husband, who is hurting and so very frustrated at being powerless to help or do anything, is all I want, and even when he hugs me, I feel like I just can't get close enough. I wish I could just meld into his skin and just not be me for a little while, you know?

And now that the sun is setting and I can't distract myself anymore with gardening, I am SO FRIGGIN' THANKFUL that there is something to watch on tv to help me stay distracted - So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) - and so here I go, watching beauty in motion and emotion. Should be good...

And tomorrow will be another day.

Weeping over losers / My Heart's beat

Admittedly, it was an emotional night of The Biggest Loser - I mean, WOW, what changes they have gone through, and boy, those reunions were pretty heart-wrenching, but I MUST have crazy hormones because I haven't stopped crying! All the great news and the bad (Laura's hip stress fracture) - sometimes reality TV is all too real, you know? But then again, the ladies reading this blog know how great a "good cry" feels - especially if you aren't actually sad.

And I most certainly am not. Today, even though I am still hacking up a lung, was a GREAT day. Today I heard the little squishy bass beat of my baby's heart (139 bpm)and saw the little raspberry (literally - he/she is the size of a raspberry) swimming in this little black sack inside my belly. Cool, eh?

This early ultrasound was scheduled by my doctor as a means of putting our minds at ease after the miscarriage we suffered back in November. I didn't realize this was an option, but once, at this juncture - 8 weeks - you hear the heartbeat and know all is developing properly, your chances of not miscarrying are a lot better. So. Phone calls were made to the grandparents and the parents to confirm that all is well, and now the fun really starts...

If only I can shake this cold, and get a bit more energy on a daily basis, then I would be jumping and singing and full of happy sunshiny charisma. However for now I will settle for a calm peace and contentment and get my butt to bed to see if I can sleep without hacking up a lung!

What a great day, though!

Dominatrix Deanna

Oh the draaaaaamaaaah! Watching the season finale of The Bachelor and having fun trying to discern how they have edited this thing to make you believe one girl has it over another. Personally? I think the third wheel, Deanna is gonna screw him up! Should be interesting....Maybe he'll try to work it to have all three of them? I can see Deanna in black leather and studs, barking orders to the three of them...can't you?

Okay...what the heck did Jason talk to Melissa's parents about? Did the conversation give everything away? Oh..wait! here comes Deanna - the woman who tossed him aside like Ty's dirty diaper. OOOOOP! Deanna gets the shaft! Oh yeah....oh, wait. They edited the previews to make us believe she wanted him back, but she was only there to warn him against making the wrong choice. Booo!

Okay, what's next, then? Sweet little place he's staying. I'd sign up for this reality stupidity just for the infinity pool! Well, he's a guy - he picked the ring that obviously was the most ornate and expensive, but it was ugly...

It's soooooo Molly! Like I didn't know that. I knew. Just wait for it. Don't you think so?

AFTER THE REVEAL...

Yeah...that's not gonna last. She's still a child, but then again, so were they both.

Wonder what is so dramatic about the after show coming up....guess I'll find out. Later...

***********************

Oh No He DIDN'T (snap)....
What an ass. (Oh, by the way, have I mentioned that I think this earnest, sweet man is a total fake bastard (you tell him, Mel) and likely wants a fat, juicy slice of fame pie?).

But I was right. It was Molly all along. Ha! Now, I hope she tosses him over...
I wish Melissa would say what we're all thinking. He's 'had' you now, and so it's time to have Molly. Ick.

Ew. Ick.

Here it comes - let's see if Molly is the smart girl I figure she is. (As an aside, how screwed up is the poor kid Ty going to be?).

Well, and of course, there's always the fact that none of this is real, and there's the very real possibility that the entire thing is 'produced' and that Jason is being paid a LOT of money to pull this stunt. And hey, if Molly gives it a go, and they work out, it will be more promotion for the show. We live in a very twisted world, don't we?

Man, the host is REALLY treading close with this. She may be able to read this is coming, especially given there isn't a crowd. (I love that, by the way...Keeping the shamefilled rejection to just the two of them, a television host, and millions of viewers for all of time....so INTIMATE!)

You could hear his heartbeat in the microphone! Yah...this is awkward. And she's like, "You are screwed up, man!" what's she going to say to this??? I mean, besides "you are such a bastard"...

She has said NOTHING. now a commercial. big surprise.

OHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. He doesn't deserve a KISS. He deserves to be slapped! How will you trust this moron who doesn't know what he wants? Brutal.

At least he knows he's classless. Wonder when it is going to sink in that she's getting sloppy seconds? Will be interesting to follow them in the tabloids now and over the next few weeks...until they break up.

It was a good three hours of television, though.

Catty claws and reality romance

Ah...the women tell all episode of The Bachelor. Okay, what? The old singles from all the old episodes of Bachelor/Bachelorette get together and GET TOGETHER? Actually....they all are perfect for each other. They all should join the Beautiful People website. Awwww...there's real love there! wow, that is cheezy.

So. who's it going to be? He's either going to make the wrong choice and go with the cutesy girl-woman Melissa, or he'll go with the wide-eyed balanced and much too good for him Molly. I just don't know what it is, but this Jason dude is trying much too hard to look perfect, and I am not biting. I mean, I seem to recall that Jason's home during his first appearance with Deanna was a normal apartment on LAND, and not a Sleapless in Seattle love boat, don't you? And he never seems to mention that he has shared custody with his boy, and isn't the 24-7 single sacrificing Pappy that he claims to be. I really liked my gal pal Jillian from northern Alberta, though. She came from Peace River, which is really close to where my Mom grew up, in a small wheat town called Hythe, near Beaverlodge (yup, you guessed it. They have a massive sculpture of a beaver as you enter town).

Well...the ladies are finally going to weigh in. Here we go - release the jungle cats and sharpen the claws....!!!

Sunday Slam

I gorged myself on reality TV today. Each Sunday repeats of all the television I miss during the week play, and on those lovely, lazy last day of the weekends, I plunk myself down on my cozy couch, pour a glass of wine, cover up with a nice fleece blankie and watch the most hideous, peurile and indulgent crap that is on offer on television...and love it. Not surprisingly, the bulk of it is on MTV, and I wonder if they realize this secret demographic that exists of highly professional, approaching middle age (okay....that doesn't sound good, but I guess it is more the OLD middle age than the new) intelligent and active happy women are in love with the crap they pass as programming.

I mean, it was fabulous! Brody Jenner found romance with a new bro from Boston. Whitney had ethical pains trying to decide between siding with a fashion mogul critical of the emancipation of a model, and the model herself (aside: is that not a bit hypocritical of her? She hires them and works in that industry...????). OOOOOO - and the best was that Rikki and Nikki picked the love of their life, except that it was the same dude. Poor bisextual Nikki...losing out on love by the hands of her also bisexual sister. What is a bisexual to do? I know....go back on reality television with a new concept and another search for love!!! Any guesses as to what the show will be called and how soon it will be on? Yup - A Double Shot at Love has to be the worst show I have yet to see on television. FANtastic.

So...what shows do you catch up on on Sundays? How do you recover from a long week of work and relax to face another?

And if you haven't seen any of the above shows...how could you miss them????

Perfectionism sucks

Big mistakes at work. Damn. I thought I had it all under control. It sucks, but boy, is the response ever different where I am versus where I have been. Or maybe I have changed...? Quite possible, as I have learned a great many things since I left my previous position and changed career paths.

That said...could approval processes in the government be more complicated? Hard to imagine.

Tomorrow's another day, right? Time for dinner, a late volleyball match, missing Biggest Loser yet again, and then up at 5:30ish to do this again!

And we wonder why guys sometimes refer to women as psycho bitches?

So...another fun night of watching the world's worst reality show (or one of the bottom dwellers - there are worse, I guess)...the Bachelor! Our little dental hygenist is a little "restraining orderish" ain't she? The group date ladies are a little snotty from crying so much and our Jason seems bewildered. Could it be because they were all on the set of General Hospital as our Bachelor swapped spit with the ladies multiple times over and with multiple partners?

Yeah...true love will prevail - I am sure of it!

I feel so NORMAL when I watch these shows!

Oooooo....Here's a quotation for you..."You've met a man, you've married him and had his kid, and then he died. It's my turn!"....LOVE. IT.

Ah...Bromance....

So yeah...the guys are now camping and a life coach has been brought in to dig down into their consciousness and get to know their sensitive side. There's love in the group, apparently.

By the way, as background, I love the worst of the worst reality tv shows. They rock. So bad, they're good. MTV has become a regular channel on at our house, with suck (sic) gems as The City, Bromance, and of course, A Double Shot at Love with, as mentioned in a previous post, bisexual (not buying that) twins looking for luuuurve....

Ah... the boys have issues with their Mommies. Really. Scintillating stuff, my friends....truly.

So. Euchre tournament at our favourite local pub tonight - looking forward to it. The Blackburn Arms - where everyone knows your name. Let's hope I win some money (to cover the alcohol and food bill)!

Double Breast Strokes?

Yes, yes, yes! 76 laps of the pool in 45 minutes, with a mix of butterfly, egg-beater drills, sprints and breast stroke, front crawl and back stroke, followed by 10 minutes in a nice, hot sauna at my new "health club"...and I am happy. Add that to some good wine and conversation after work (oh...yeah, did I mention drinks?) with coworkers, and it was a good day. A great way to ease into the weekend, and a good way to remind myself that even amongst changes in our team, there are still some faaaabulous teammates around me.

In particular, I have two girlfriends, soon to be my immediate neighbours, who are single and looking for guys. What fun! I want to hear about their escapades and see what vicarious living I can do through them, but also, see if I can help somehow (???). And, I have to say, one of them said something that she may not have realized meant a hill of beans to me, but in fact gave me a major boost and made me feel wonderful. It is nice to get an insight into how others see you and realize that they see you in a really great light, when you doubt yourself. Why do we do that? Why not believe that others think we're great first, and only doubt it when we find out otherwise? ah....lack of confidence...the root of all evil.

In any event, it was a great way to lead off the weekend, and with a shout out to my great girlfriends at work, I bid you a great weekend!

Now...time to pour another glass of wine, and watch a little What Not to Wear (and maybe a little Miss America crap - I told you there would be some bad reality TV on this blog. BTW - anyone get a kick out of Double Shot at Love like we do? It is crappy, hideously bad reality TV with two sexy blond bisexual [yeah, whatever!] chicks looking for "love"....).

Swooning with embarassment

Confessions of a readaholic...it all started with...um...well, I guess Disney books, but quickly graduated to The Bobbsey Twins and the Three Investigator series (did anyone read these? They were MUCH better than Nancy Drew and the B Twins), but then the rails fell off. I fell in love with romance novels. First it was the teen novels (I confess to keeping one or two of my personal faves, which I will still read every few years and laugh at how much I dreamt of the guys and the situations in them), and then it was the trashiest of the trash - all at the ages of 14-17 or so. Hell....I still love a good romance, but it is usually couched in the more 'acceptable' genre of Chick Lit. I love it. I also love bad romance reality shows like The Bachelor, which is what inspired this flip backwards through the pages. Such crap (and given that I worked in the film and television industry for about 5 or so years, I am WELL aware of the staging and often picture the crews and sound boom guys and equipment all around these people...mmmmmmm...romantic!) but y'know, after a long day at work, and a tough, tough workout, relaxing on the couch to mindless drivel is a great pastime, I think. What about you? What is your embarassing obsession? What mindless drivel do you most love watching on television to relax?
