In honour of the fact that my hubby bought us tickets today to the July Sting concert (with full orchestra accompanying him), I just had to share a video I heard about from a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel. So very very funny.

Nice to see some actual funny guys upcoming to take over the likes of Dave and Jay. They're tired.
Sexy bikini beach volleyball games soon to be replaced - ahem - NOW replaced by shovels, pails and sandcastles, and two little ones eating sand. Join me on the journey!

Am I getting old, or just insanely jealous?
So, I'm trying to dig WAAAAY down deep to find out why I have so little interest in the Oscar's tonite. Is it because I'm getting old, and fairytales just don't appeal? Is it because I'd be considered morbidly obese in tinseltown, and thus, I boycott while green with envy? I mean, I used to love to see what the women are wearing...now I just see a lot of uncomfortable, and uncomfortably thin, women dressed like cheezy barbies and hoping the papparazzzzzzo with Luuuuuuuuurve them tomorrow.
Time for milk and some Oreo cookies - and to find something to watch tonite.

Nuthin to say
Well, obviously, that's not true. I'm typing actual words here! But really? I am engrossed in television and wine drinking and digesting a nice lovely Wednesday meal, and thinking about a tough day of work ahead, juggling all the things I want to get done, and what the heck I can squeeze into my weekend. I am also happy to have had a house full of people this morning at 7am. Yup. I was making coffee, and THEY were studying the mistakes they made on my granite kitchen counter, planning to fix them at no cost to me. Great. Let's make it happen so that I can GET ON with the rest of the kitchen already!
But I am not feeling poetic. I am not feeling philosophical. I am not feeling unique, or possessing of anything all that terribly scintillating to say. I am feeling, as I have said before, in a state of limbo, repetition, process.
I am in process.
Hey.
I like that.
I actually had something to say.
I am a woman currently in process.

Gleeful about Glee
Satire. A good, juicy, cheeky, tonguey television show. A must see and an automatic laugh, replete with characters who make you cringe and whom you hate - much like George Kostanza a la Seinfeld.
Have to get back to Glee - my escape from a bad week!

A new move
I'm calling it the 'reality flip'. Too many damn reality shows on at the same time! Do I want to watch next top model or celebrity jungle crap or models and athletes kayaking through a resort lazy river? GOD! So many GREAT options!!!
Really. If you are going to do reality, can we PLEASE make it a little more compelling PULEEEEASE?
At least tomorrow night I have SYTYCD! Can't wait. Last week my favourite dance by far was one that also had a very personal resonance with me. It was a contemporary number that used the music I chose as the first dance between my husband and I at our wedding reception. The song, Falling Slowly, I first heard while watching the movie "Juno" (great movie), and it just spoke to me. The lyrics are incredible, and really seemed to capture, poetically, the journey my husband and I have taken together, and the optimism we both have for our future together. It was lovely.

Watch and enjoy the beauty that is the best reality show amid a sea of wasted time.

Catty claws and reality romance
Ah...the women tell all episode of The Bachelor. Okay, what? The old singles from all the old episodes of Bachelor/Bachelorette get together and GET TOGETHER? Actually....they all are perfect for each other. They all should join the Beautiful People website. Awwww...there's real love there! wow, that is cheezy.
So. who's it going to be? He's either going to make the wrong choice and go with the cutesy girl-woman Melissa, or he'll go with the wide-eyed balanced and much too good for him Molly. I just don't know what it is, but this Jason dude is trying much too hard to look perfect, and I am not biting. I mean, I seem to recall that Jason's home during his first appearance with Deanna was a normal apartment on LAND, and not a Sleapless in Seattle love boat, don't you? And he never seems to mention that he has shared custody with his boy, and isn't the 24-7 single sacrificing Pappy that he claims to be. I really liked my gal pal Jillian from northern Alberta, though. She came from Peace River, which is really close to where my Mom grew up, in a small wheat town called Hythe, near Beaverlodge (yup, you guessed it. They have a massive sculpture of a beaver as you enter town).
Well...the ladies are finally going to weigh in. Here we go - release the jungle cats and sharpen the claws....!!!

Warm up for Superbowl
Ready for the kick-off? We are heading off for a little pre-superbowl bowling party, followed by the game on the big screen at our favourite pub, the Blackburn Arms. Should be a great time, and as a lead up to the big event, I thought it would be fun to showcase the best part of last year's game....the commercials!
Enjoy!

Family and Cloris Leachman
What a lovely evening. Still making our way through it - watching this crazy roast, and the very funny schtick of Cloris Leachman. She is a funny, funny woman...She was the only really good thing about the movie Spanglish...
Ooooooh! Sarah Silverman is coming up. EXCELLENT! She is rude. Should be good!
I just want to say, though, how interesting and oftentimes lovely it is to suddenly have a whole new family when you get married. You marry into a whole new wealth of fantastical characters and lovely human beings, and it is really kinda fun, challenging and fascinating to get to know these strangers who are a large part of the history of the significant other that you love. Now, of course I have known my husband's aunt and uncle for a few years now, but it takes time to really spend all that much time with these people and you get to know them better each time you have an event together. Tonight was no exception, and we really enjoyed our dinner, and it was a night full of great stories, good laughs and of course....FOOD! Good bloody food, man. Love the fondue. Love that my husband is a great prodige of Jamie Oliver these days and made an incredible sage, cheddar and baked onion soup. And love the three (four?) bottles of wine we went through...
In any event, it was a great night of food, wine, family and yes... Cloris Leachman.

The Aristocrat
So even though we are hosting our aunt and uncle tonight for dinner, hubby and I are really hoping we get to see the Bob Saget Roast on Comedy Central tonight. Ever since we saw The Aristocrats, we know how twisted of a comedian he is, and frankly...we thought it was incredibly funny. The movie, and Bob himself. I was going to imbed the clip from YouTube, but after watching it again, I decided I just couldn't. It's that bad. It's that good. I have a dark sense of humour. Look for it, and hopefully we can watch the true Bob Saget revealed on television tonight. Should be interesting!
